Tom DieschbourgFor Tom Dieschbourg art and design have been a way of life for over 30 years. Tom was drawn into the fine arts while studying at the American Academy of Art in the late 1960s, where he focused on figure drawing, and later moved into graphic arts and printmaking for McWilliams Press. Throughout his career Tom has produced extensive work in the fields of figure drawing, printmaking, graphic arts, charcoal and oils and watercolor. Tom's work has been exhibited in a number of one-man shows throughout the Chicagoland area. His work has also been included in several corporate art collections such as Standard Oil of Indiana, General Electric, Beldon Corporation and C&A Insurance.
Tom's etchings featured in the INK show are representative of his printmaking work. Etchings are recognized by the mark of a copper plate pressed into paper. The lines of the image are sharp as they are printed from ink-filled grooves, bitten into the plate with acid through lines scribed with a shape point into an acid-resistant coating. The inked plate is passed with damp paper through a press with felt blankets to force the paper into the grooves to pick up the ink. |
