Class Types & Term Dates

Fall Classes 2008
Registration begins August 11, 2008. Classes begin September 8. Classes run once a week for 5 or 8 week sessions, unless noted otherwise. Workshops are one or two days as described in the class listing.  Youth Fine Art Classes & Workshops
The youth education program at Brickton Art Center serves students age two through fourteen, introducing them to diverse mediums and disciplines including drawing, painting, sculpture, as well as fundamentals of art and art history. Class sizes range from five to fourteen students grouped appropriately by age. Lessons based on works of master artists, children's literature, and other significant cultural resources are offered in our early childhood art education classes as well as older youth classes. Education benefits that your children receive through the Brickton Art Center¹s fine art program include, exploring new ways to communicate, developing self-esteem, developing a cooperative attitude through creativity and experimentation. Classes are held in 4 or 8-week sessions. Workshops typically run 1 to 4 hours in one or two day session.

 

Teen Fine Art Classes & Workshops
The teen fine art program at Brickton Art Center incorporates unique studio based classes where students have the opportunity to progress at their own pace while receiving instruction from our professional staff. Our program serves students age eleven through sixteen. The instructor, with regards to each project, takes each student's past experience and skill level into consideration. This dynamic curriculum facilitates individual development, encourages self-discipline, critical thinking, problem solving, and analytical judgment, thus enriching the creative process of each student. Classes are held in 4 or 8-week sessions. Workshops typically run 1 to 4 hours in one or two day session.

 

Youth Fine Art Classes & Workshops
The adult fine art classes at Brickton Art Center, taught by practicing professional artists or art educators, are appropriate for ages sixteen and up and all skill levels are welcomed to participate. A diverse range of disciplines and media are routinely offered and new subjects are continually added as interest demands. Typical class size is between four to twelve students, promoting individual attention, allowing each student to develop at their own pace. Classes are held in 4 or 8-week sessions. Workshops typically run 1 to 4 hours in one or two day session.

 

Family Workshop
This program was created to give families an opportunity to spend quality time together while exploring some art projects and topics. Each workshop and registration fee applies to families of 3 or 4 (including at least one adult per family)-Families who are interested in bringing more than 4 participants: please call Brickton Art Center so we can accommodate you (847-823-6611).

 

THE pARTner PROJECT
These courses provide a chance for parents, grandparents, or caregivers to work side by side with their 6 to 10-year old children on creative projects while learning some art making skills along the way! Fees apply to each adult/child couple.
