Outreach Programs

Part of our commitment to the arts in the community is realized through our Art Outreach programs. These are meaningful art opportunities provided at-cost or free to other community groups and underserved populations. This fall brought colorful art opportunities for many children and adults participating in Brickton Art Center s Outreach Programs.
St. Matthew Center for Health
Brickton began a new 8-week program at St. Matthew Center for Health for 12 geriatric adults. Many of the residents had not picked up a paintbrush in many years and exploring with the art materials provided a liberating experience for all. The residents artwork is currently on exhibition at Le Peep in Park Ridge. Brickton Art Center looks forward to continuing this program with St. Matthew Center for Health.

MaineStay Youth and Family Services
Brickton continues to work with MaineStay Youth and Family Services offering an after-school program for 13 kids ages 8-14 years old. This is our 3rd session of Art In The Town and the group s popularity is definitely growing! We will be displaying the artwork created from this group of artists at Le Peep. Make sure you check it out beginning this January.

Avenues to Independence
You will be impressed! Our Creative Expressions group at Avenues to Independence completed another successfu session. Our group of 11 artists worked wit clay, paints, pastels, and watercolors. The energy and enthusiasm these artists bring to the group is absolutely amazing.
The artist within each of the residents has grown and strengthened through each session.

Have Dreams
Have Dreams and Brickton Art Center were proud to be a part of the Maine Center for Mental Health s 30th annual Christmas Housewalk. Children and staff from Have Dreams and Brickton Art Center worked together to create sparkling ornament and magnificent works of art to illustrate what they are dreaming of this season. Brickton Art Center continues to work with the children at Have Dreams every Wednesday.

Lutheran General Hospital
Brickton Art Center completed a mural in the pediatric oncology clinic at Lutheran General Hospital for the patients and families to enjoy. Thanks to Andi Taglia for her amazing artistic skills and time she put in to complete the mural. Brickton continues to work on the pediatric unit of Lutheran General Hospital every Wednesday. Brickton sends an art therapist to the LGH pediatric unit for three hours to work with children who have various illnesses and disabilities. She provides art materials and directives to help the children cope with their illnesses and express their feelings and thoughts while in the hospital.
